Intentional Details

Matt and I are back in Mississippi this week to finish our ministry assignment here, wrapping up the summer camps we’ve been so blessed to lead every year during this most recent season of our lives. My heart has been so full of gratitude as we get to watch students encounter Jesus night after night here in Mississippi one more time.

Oh, how we love these people so much.

It’s been the highlight of our ministry so far to serve the youth and kids of our home state—a group made up of both churches we’ve worked at, along with many friends who go back as far as our teen years, when we first started attending this camp ourselves. What an honor to be a part of this legacy that has continued for so many generations.

As we were chatting with the new directors who will be taking our place, we realized that in November 2019, at the very same time we were appointed to this role as state directors, they had just said "yes" to serving in ministry at their local church. It is absolutely mind-blowing to me to see God’s intentional hand at work—not just in our story, but also in the lives of the people who would one day take our place—all at the same time. He knows everything that will ever happen, and He is so intentional with every detail. His plans are often years in the making. Who else could do this but our miraculous God?

As I reflect on this, I find myself so grateful—grateful that we got to be a part of this, expectant for what God has planned for our future in South Carolina, and excited to see what God will do in the lives of our Mississippi friends too.

For today’s devotional, I encourage you to stop and consider your life for a moment. Where have you seen God’s intentionality in your story? May we never forget the good things He does. May they be constant reminders that He is always at work behind the scenes, taking care of every little detail.

Let’s take a moment to stop and reflect on this together, pausing to dwell on this passage from Psalm 103:

“Let all that I am praise the Lord; with my whole heart, I will praise his holy name. Let all that I am praise the Lord; may I never forget the good things he does for me. He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases. He redeems me from death and crowns me with love and tender mercies. He fills my life with good things. My youth is renewed like the eagle’s!” Psalms 103:1-5 NLT

Prayer:

God, thank You so much for taking care of every detail of my life—all the things I can see, and all the things You’re doing in the background that I’m not even aware of right now. If I ever feel like You’ve forgotten or overlooked me, may I look back and remember all the times You’ve been good to me, anchoring my hope in the confidence that You always come through. Thank You for Your love and intentionality in my life. Amen!
